Romans 6

Dead to Sin, Alive to God

By being baptized in Christ, we are baptized into death, the death of sin. Therefore, don't let sin reign in your mortal body, focus on God.

Or something like that, it's poetic but basically seems to say "don't sin, focus on God"

Slaves to Righteousness

You can be either slaves to sin which leads to death, or you can be slaves to obedience, which leads to righteousness. You should be slaves to God.

What a strange way to put it. This is a letter to try to convince the Romans right? Is it persuasive to say this?

  1. An interesting chapter. I think it's good to turn a new page when you can and start living like a good person whenever possible. What catches my eye though is verse 14. "For sin shall not be master over you, for you are not under law, but under grace." It almost sounds like someone could use this to point to Christians not being under OT law anymore. On the other hand, verses like these seem to point in a different direction.

    1. yeah that is a good point, Paul here seems to be saying "follow you heart not necessarily the law". The verses you quote seem to be directly contrary to that, In particular the one from Matthew. I suppose that it depends on what is meant by "until all is accomplished", but if you think all has been accomplished then we should all just relax :)
